Pike County Pig Days (annual event)

Pike County Pig Days (annual event in July)

2017 PIKE COUNTY PIG DAYS IS JULY 7 & 8

Mark your calendars for the 49th annual Pike County Pig Days!  Members of the Pittsfield Lions Club, organizers of the event, are in the final planning stages for the 2017 Pike County Pig Days to be held July 7th & 8th on the Courthouse grounds in Pittsfield.

The City of Pittsfield and sponsors from all around Pike County make this event possible, and funds raised during Pig Days are funneled back to our community through the various projects and organizations supported by the Pittsfield Lions Club.

This favorite summertime tradition includes music & entertainment, Lions Club jump toys and kids rides, the Little Miss Piglet and Little Mr. Pork Chop contests, vendors on the square, kids’ games and activities, and LOTS of great food.  Several highlights of Pike County Pig Days are the Pittsfield Lions Club’s famous pork sandwiches, which will be served on Saturday and the Little Miss Piglet and Little Mr. Pork Chop contests on Friday evening.

A 2017 commemorative Pig Days T-shirt will also be available, featuring artwork by local artist Bill Beard.

Saturday’s afternoon activities will feature Kid’s “Art in the Park”- where kids can paint their own Piggy Bank.  New this year is an adult “Art in the Park” open to the first 10 adults who sign up.

There is great entertainment planned for this year’s Pig Days.  Stompin’ Ground will perform on Friday night, a Pig Days tradition.

There will be afternoon stage entertainment on Saturday from noon until 6 PM featuring Youth @ First, Shelly Hill, Isaiah Christian, Maddie Palmer, Brad Miller & Michael McQuay, and Maggie Schacht.  The evening entertainment will  be The Misfits.

Vendor space for Pig Days is available. Contact Charles Gates at 217-473-3041 to obtain a Vendor Space Reservation Form. For information regarding the Little Miss Piglet and Little Mr. Pork Chop contests, please contact Sharon Springer at 217-285-5760.

The Pittsfield Lions Club invites everyone to come out, have fun and support your local Lions Club.

Pike County Pig Days is a fundraising events for the Pittsfield Lions Club and proceeds are channeled back into our community through the many individual projects and community organizations the Lions Club assists each year.  These include funding eye examinations for county residents,  purchasing eyeglasses for those in need in Pike County, collecting used eyeglasses and hearing aids for use worldwide, and helping the Pittsfield, Griggsville, and Perry libraries purchase large print books for sight-impaired readers.  The Pittsfield Lions Club also assists the Pike County Health Department, Mounted Angels, Pike County Little League, and is involved in many other projects.
