and containing two lakes, Pike County offers some
pretty good fishing. Both the Illinois and Mississippi
Rivers offer a wide variety of fish. The impressive
list includes large mouth bass, white bass, channel
cat, flat head cat, carp, crappie, freshwater
drum, blue gill, sauger and walleye. At lake Pittsfield
you can catch hybrid striped bass, large mouth
bass, carp, crappie, channel cat, blue gill and
walleye. Pine Lakes has good fishing too with

HUNTING

With its rolling hills, hardwood
forests and streams, Pike County is prime hunting
country. There is a public conservation area and
some private hunting preserves. White tail deer
are abundant. Pike is usually first in Illinois
with the number of deer harvested each year. Wild
turkey hunting is great too.

Check out the hunting preserves
for pheasant, quail and chukar partridge. Wild
duck and goose hunting is available. The local
hunting experts can help you with everything from
dog training to practice shooting Blue Rock and
Sporting Clays.
