The Pittsfield Lions Club is the sponsor of the 2009 Pike County Pig Days Celebration to be held July 10 & 11, 2009 in Pittsfield, on the Courthouse grounds. This year marks the 41st anniversary of one of Pike County’s favorite summertime events. Festivities include the 5th Annual Prince Pig Cook Off*, a vendor fair, family entertainment, the Little Miss Piglet contest, and much more! Vendor spots are still available. A Vendor Information & Registration Form is available to download.
As an added service during the 2009 Pig Days event, the Pittsfield Lions Club is bringing back the Lions Mobile Hearing Services Unit to the Courthouse Grounds on Saturday, July 11th and will be offering free hearing screenings to persons 18 and older and to children 10-17 years of age with written parental consent. The free hearing screenings will take place from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The Mobile Hearing Screening activity is conducted through cooperation of the Lions of Illinois Foundation, the charitable arm of the state’s more than 700 Lions Clubs.
Pike County Pig Days and the Prince Pig Cook Off are fundraising events for the Pittsfield Lions Club and proceeds are channeled back into our community through the many individual projects and community organizations the Lions Club assists each year. These include funding eye examinations for county residents, purchasing eyeglasses for those in need in Pike County, collecting used eyeglasses and hearing aids for use worldwide, and helping the Pittsfield, Griggsville, and Perry libraries purchase large print books for sight-impaired readers. The Pittsfield Lions Club also assists the Pike County Health Department, Mounted Angels, many youth organizations in Pike County (such as the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts), and is involved in many other projects.
Prince Pig Cook Off
