The purpose
of the Counseling Center of Pike County is to provide
an array of services which promote the mental health
and well-being of individuals and families and help
people lead more satisfying and productive lives
as accepted members of our community.
From 1969 until September of 1978 the Center was
known as the Pike County Health Center, under the
auspices of the Mental Health Association of Pike
County. The Counseling Center of Pike County
has been a separate not-for-profit organization
since September 21, 1978. In June 1998 the
Center was nationally accredited by The Rehabilitation
Accredition Commission.

Our workers
are dedicated and energetic.
Any resident
of Pike County is eligible for the services of the
Counseling Center. Any person wanting these services
may make an appointment by calling 285-4436. A referal
is not necessary. Office hours are Monday
through Friday 8:30 to 5:00 with evening appointments
available on Tuesday and Wednesday by request.
Fees for service are based on ability to pay and
are mutually agreed upon at he time of the first
visit. No person will be denied services because
of an inability to pay . Medicaid, Medicare
and some private insurance may pay for some services
provided by the Center. Your local tax dollars
and gifts are an essential part of the operating
budget of the Center. suport is also proviced
by local volunteers. Persons of all ages have
volunteered to do a variety of jobs vital to the
operation of the Center. A counselor is on
call 24 hours a day, each day of the year to assist

The Pike
County Work Activity Center is operated by the
Counseling Center of Pike County. We opened
our doors in 1974, serving adults with Developmental
Disabilities, and are currently serve 35 individuals.
We're located in the Counseling Center West facility
on Highway 106 in Pittsfield with easy access
to Interstate 72. Our work area is 70 by
70 feet with a loading dock. We are open
Monday through Friday 8:00 to 4:00 with client
workers present 9:00 - 2:30. Our phone number
is 217-285-4930. Our workers are dedicated,
energetic, and willing to work hard to please
the customer. Work defines our indivduals'
self-worth and their sense of pride. Piece
rate jobs are paid based on a company's standards.
Jobs could include sorting, labeling, assembly,
cutting, mailing, packaging, etc. We'll
try anything! Join up with us and help your
