Pearl
The
sleepy Illinois River town of Pearl sits in a
very scenic area of the county. It wasn't always
a sleepy town. The railroad and the river kept
it booming earlier in the 20th century. Prior
to days of plastic, there were five Pearl button
factories. A flash flood in 1946 took it's toll
on Pearl. The unusual sandy soil of the nearby
hills washed into town.
